Deputy Headteacher 

Salary L19 – L23 

From 1 January 2024 

This is an exciting opportunity for an existing Deputy headteacher or Assistant headteacher looking for the next step in their career. We are looking for an inspirational, pupil-focused individual who will assist with leading Ralph Allen School in the next stage of its development and be a committed member of the Extended Leadership Team within a growing Trust.

The new Deputy Headteacher at Ralph Allen will work closely with the Headteacher, the Trust and school leadership teams, wider colleagues, families, the Local Governing Committee and of course the pupils to achieve our vision of excellent and equitable opportunities so everyone can flourish.  

Palladian Academy Trust is a mixed Trust of both church and community schools, established in 2016 as a not-for-profit charity with children at the heart of everything it does. It currently has 11 schools (1 secondary and 10 primaries). The Trust is a learning organisation, where the learning of all children and adults is valued and continually promoted.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an inspirational and aspirational leader to join Ralph Allen School and further contribute to the life chances of our young people in the school and across the Trust. 

The successful applicant for this role will play a major part in moving the school forward, as it enters a new phase of development under our recently appointed new Headteacher. 

Key areas which the successful candidate will take the strategic lead on: 

• An overall picture of ensuring students are ready for learning, ensuring that barriers to this are removed, be those barriers through choice or circumstance. 
• Line management of Assistant Headteacher(s) 
• Strategic lead and line management of the Pastoral Team 
• Sustaining and improving key systems, including; Behaviour, Rewards, Attendance, Safeguarding 

• Community engagement 
• Alternative Provision. 
• Working and developing relationships with external provision to support students and families, including building partnerships with other schools. 
• Communicating expectations and clarity of procedures to all stakeholders 
• Ensuring the school is meeting statutory requirements within its behaviour processes 

• Identifying, plan for and implement strategies to support all aspects of the schools culture 
• Ensuring all aspects of school culture are aligned, and students, parents, and staff are fully on board 

The successful candidate will be: 

• An excellent classroom practitioner - enthusing and inspiring young people 

• An innovative and strategic thinker, who can implement ideas and add value to our school 
• Be highly visible and collaborative senior leader  
• Professional and have academic credibility, balanced with warmth and sensitivity 
• Ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities of leadership in schools, with the skill to lead by example and inspire others
